	NEERS Meeting 5-1 to 5-3-08: The New England Estuarine Research Society annual meeting at the Great Bay Discovery Center focused on the challenges of predicting and preventing ecological tipping points for estuarine systems. NHEP staff gave a presentation at the conference on nutrient criteria development in the Great Bay Estuary.		Request for Proposals for the 2009 Local Grants Program The NHEP is accepting project proposals for its annual Local Grants Program. Selected projects will result in achievement or significant progress toward achievement of one or more Action Plans described in the NHEP Management Plan . This is the first year that 10 Maine communities in the Great Bay Watershed (Acton, Berwick, Eliot, Kittery, Lebanon, North Berwick, Sanford, South Berwick, Wells, and York) will be eligible for this grant program. Instead of directly referencing Action Plans, Maine-based projects should address actions in exisiting watershed plans with goals that are consistent with the NHEP Management Plan. An applicant may submit a project proposal for up to $8,000 of NHEP funds; however a 50% match is required. An original proposal and five double-sided copies must be received by NHEP Project Coordinator, Dave Kellam, by 4:00 p.m. on September 25, 2008. Download Request for Proposals Details, Agenda Registration CELCP Now Accepting Proposals New Hampshire Coastal Program (NHCP) is accepting applications to the Coastal and Estuarine Land Conservation Program (CELCP). Eligible projects must be consistent with the draft NHCELCP Plan. This year the NH Coastal Program will forward to NOAA three projects requesting no more than $3 million per project, which will be ranked in a national competition. The due date for all proposals is 4:00 p.m. on June 27, 2008. Direct questions to NHCP Manager Ted Diers (603-271-7940, ted.diers@des.nh.gov). UNH Stormwater Center Workshops In 2008, the UNH Stormwater Center will host workshops at its field facility to demonstrate a number of stormwater treatment technologies. The NHEP will pay registration fees for members of planning boards, conservation commissions, and zoning boards of adjustment, as well as town planning and public works staff from NHEP’s watershed communities. Accepting 2008 Land Transaction Grant Applications The NHEP has funding available in 2008 to assist with transaction costs associated with high priority permanent land protection projects within the New Hampshire coastal watershed. Applications from nonprofit 501(c)(3) conservation organizations or government entities are currently being accepted for up to $3000 per project. Download Application Accepting Applications for Community Technical Assistance Program The NHEP is accepting applications from municipal planning boards and conservation commissions through Round 3 of its Community Technical Assistance Program (CTAP), which provides consulting assistance to communities on a wide range of regulatory and nonregulatory approaches to natural resources protection. 	NHEP Management Committee Meeting 5-2-08: Highlights included 2008 Monitoring Program funding reallocation, activities in newly adopted Maine comm unties, Planning Board/Conservation Commission Survey results, NHDES Wetlands Program Improvement Initiative presentation, and discussion of the Year 13 NHEP Work Plan (2009).
	NHDES Water Plan Meeting 5-5-08: NHEP will review several chapters in the draft NHDES Water Resources Plan that includes NH water resources data, management programs, and resource recommendations.
	Great Bay Estuary Commission Meeting 5-9-08: The final meeting of this commission included a review of the draft final report to the NH Legislature.
	Maine Expansion Brochure Sent 5-14-08:An outreach brochure was mailed to many key stakeholders in Maine that describes the recent expansion of the NHEP Focus Area to include all of the Great Bay Estuary;adding 10 Maine communities. Read Brochure
	Tributary Sampling 5-21-08: NHEP staff assisted UNH Water Resources Research Center in collecting water samples for the NHEP's effort to monitor water quality parameters for all of the major tributary streams to the Great Bay estuary.
	Climate Workshop 5-30-08: NHEP staff attended the Municipal Climate Change Adaptation Workshop in Boston conducted by the Local Governments for Sustainability. The workshop reported on proactive actions that municipalities are taking to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to predicted impacts.
	LID Conference Planning Meeting 5-30-08: NHEP staff assisted in the planning of this conference led by UNH Cooperative Extension/ NH Sea Grant. The workshop is on June 12, from 8am - 4 pm, in Somersworth, NH. Register Online
